Really, a little time to yourself and just enjoying yourself is a wonderful way to beat stress. You need that time, otherwise you end up going nuts I swear.
Just kick back with a cuppa and some nice music playing, relax in the garden. Now there's a nice afternoon.

I think just taking some time away form your daily routine is very useful. Get a break and just relax.
Don’t even think about doing "something" to relax even. Just do nothing. You can pass the time lying on bed or just sitting back on the rocking chair.
Anything, you can do. Anything that you feel like to do.

Working requires long hours of concentration and complete dedication. You may feel compelled to finish work to achieve the deadline, meet client satisfaction, or attain quota. All these factors can be very stressful but they are inevitable since they motivate people to strive harder.
Even at home, stress is present. Your child may be failing in her studies, or you are getting late with your rent or bills. These can be stressful even to think about. If you cannot prioritize what is important, you may feel stress every single day. Sometimes, you have no choice but to remove yourself from a stressful situation and just break away from everything.
Hobbies You Enjoy The Most
Hobbies and pastimes are very good stress relievers. You can put problems out of your mind away through concentrating on things that are enjoyable and fun. There are several activities that you can enjoy depending on what suits you best.
If you are into singing, go out with your friends and enjoy sing-a-long and karaoke bars. Even singing inside your bathroom is not a bad idea. You can enjoy singing almost anywhere as long as you are not bothering anyone. If you are not into singing but more into the artistic types, purchasing a sketchpad and a pencil or any art materials you want can help you relieve stress.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to hobbies. Other people like to tinker with things when they feel stressed. Find the things that you like doing the most and use them to keep yourself away from stress. Hobbies do not need long hours of attention and they can be done anywhere and are usually cheap.
Going Outdoors or Indoors
Sports are not only good for stress but also for your body. They require both physical and mental ability. If you feel that you need to break away from all the problems you have, invite a friend or group of friends to have a friendly outdoor game. There are many activities that you can engage in yourself. There are basketball, volleyball, badminton etc. All of these activities do not require a long attention span and each one is a sure way to change your focus. Sweating releases the tension in the body and provides long lasting relief.
There are also many indoor sports that you can try. Table tennis only takes up a small amount of space and can be played by many. Board games like scrabble and word factory and card games like bridge are also sports. The only difference is they require you to use your brain. Keep those brain cells alive by getting your hands on board or card games.
Take A Break
Long hours of work or monthly monotonous activities can get you stressed. Having a vacation and breaking yourself away from your work is absolutely not a bad idea. If you think you deserve the break, ask for a vacation and go to somewhere there are things not related to your work. A change of scenery can keep you from getting all stressed out.
Vacations offer a lot of things that you can try. There are outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, even rock climbing if you are the extreme type. But if you are not into serene or quiet hideaways and like bright lights and partying then you can take your vacation in places that includes casino strips or long nights of partying. You can take your vacation anywhere and they can always relieve you of your stress.

I would reccomend reading some funny jokes or watcing funny videos or just having fun with your friends. It will help you relieve the stress.
Humour is one of the easiest ways to reduce stress and I highly reccomend it, it works perfectly for me.

I have had many and I am sure depending the person they would all be a little different. Sometimes I will go into the kitchen and just cook, fully alone no one around me and just get lost in the art of foods.
Other times I might play a game, take a walk or a nice hot shower. It really depends my mood as well.

Hi StressedOut,
Good topic.
I like to take a walk, read a book, watch a movie, play an instrument, or come up with something I haven't done before (new things work wonders!).
Resolving things that have been troubling me or completing a task helps.
Helping others makes me feel good and relieves stress

there is one sure shot fun relaxing method to take out stress and it is kriya yoga. It is rythymic breathing pattern to be followed in a particular order. ITs the best I have found so far. Taught by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the Art of Living meditation course. If you get any oppurtunity do it....

Hi Mithun,
Sounds good. Is that the same Ravi Shankar that played sitar on some of The Beatles recordings?
If it is, he is also father to Nora Jones who is also a famous musician.

No NS, this Ravi Shankar is different. Here's his official website:

My son goes to his school and I must say, we are very fortunate to have that privilege. Their teaching methodology is different than the conventional stressful, highly competitive environment present most schools and institutions.
Their tag line is "A School for Joyful Learning" and their students are living examples of that.

Hi Vishal,
How wonderful. That's how all schools should be. It's competition that ruins everything. Competition creates losers and is very self-serving.
It would also be nice if K-12 schools focused much more on practical living skills because that's what everyone is guaranteed to need throughout life. Learning these things through trial and error after we move away from Dad's and Mom's house can be very troubling at least!
It sounds like a great school and I am very happy for you and your son :)
Ravi for President! ;)
