Researchers have found that men are twice likely to develop diabetes than women under stress.

Researchers found men with high levels of "psychological distress" had more than double the risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those with low levels.

The study, which looked at 2,127 men born between 1938 and 1957 and 3,100 women, found no such link in women.

Writing in Diabetic Medicine, the researchers said stress may affect the way the brain regulates hormones.

Hi Vishal,

That's amazing considering the fact that women are generally known to stress more than men.

Do you suppose it's due to the fact that women are better at expressing their feelings? Is it possible that men are simply more prone to developing diabetes?

I find the study to be quite intriguing.

Stress happens in the mind, ego. Since generations, men are the ones who have been doing more thinking - earning, creating security... Women on other hand (till recent times and at least here in developing countries) don't have to do much thinking and they function more from the heart (like you said, feelings and emotions). Hence I feel they are not genetically inclined to getting stressed.
