Stress is a relative factor and varies from person to person given the same situation. Studies have shown that those who believe and have faith in the almighty or any supernatural power manage stress better than others. One reason for this is that people who have faith in the superpower are die-hard optimists and seem to have an attitude of "leaving everything on the almighty". This greatly reduces the burden on oneself in stressful situations.
Studies have also shown that those who have strong family ties and friends are able to manage stress better than others. It seems to make point as people with strong ties often share their problems and sharing our problems brings relief.

One of the most ignored forms of treatments for stress is reliance on faith or belief. History has shown time and again how persons who have a strong faith will be able to cope much better with stress, and faith healing is a well established form of healing in our society. The overwhelming evidence is in favour of faith having a strong and positive impact in coping with stress. Modern medicine has brought in various twists to this old established treatment of stress. If faith in somebody implies belief in God, it is not difficult to see that faith in a person (a faith healer) can also be beneficial. Even the modern day family practitioner can effect a better cure in his patients if the patient has "faith" in his/her doctor. So next time you hear of "faith healing", do not just discard it as nonsense. Even as a doctor, I have learnt not to ignore this aspect of healing.

I think regarding faith-healing, the faith part is okay, but healing is not a certain issue.
I heard about Philippines cashing on some of the faith-healers who demonstrate some supernatural phenomena like operating a tumour with a surgery etc.
Those faith healings are certainly fraud cases.
But the importance of faith, either on God or the doctor, is of paramount importance.

The plethora of medications available to the modern day physician was not available a hundred years ago. If you looked at the physician's handbag or his prescription of a century ago, you will not find much that had any power to heal. Yes, there were potions to temporarily relieve symptoms but curative drugs - there were few. Yet from times immemorial, people have relied on healing and treatment form individuals they trusted or had faith in, and very often they have been "cured" There are too many examples of "faith healing" to totally ignore them. However, I will distinguish between true faith healing and incidental faith healing. Let me explain. An unusual cure occurs meriting headlines. It is usually affected by faith healers. These incidences are to be taken with more than a pinch of salt. However, the other kind of faith healing has been going for ages. Mother's potions given with love, a witch doctor's potions with elaborate rituals and threats, a medieval physician's ministration to his immediate employer and lord – all these are genuine healings largely based on faith.

Thanks for the information you three! I am always at my most mellow state of mind when I am with my closest friends and family. I think it is because they are a strong support system

Have you seen a child get instantly better after a fall when the mother picks him/her up and says some soothing words? That there is a perfect example of faith healing.

That's ok as long as it seems rational.
But I heard about some faith-healers who would show you having "operated" your heart and remove some "dirt" out of it without any surgical intervention, just using their hands.
And they claim, there had been this "dirt" causing some illness, including psychological ones.

I also saw a patient, who always thought that there is something wrong in his abdomen and he feels real pain.
But doctors revealed no anomaly. Still he suffered from severe trauma.
Then one doctor told him, that he found "something wrong" which needed "surgical intervention".
After the operation, the patient reported, there was no more pain.
How the "operation" was done? The doctor just kept him under general anaesthesia and put a bandage looking a post-operative state, without doing anything.
