Here'a a beautiful conversation between a doctor and a business man which depicts the life of a man living under stress:
An aggressive business man told his doctor that he was stresses with work. "I take home my brief case every night and it is packed with work," he said in nervous voice. "Can not someone else do it or help you with it?" asked the doctor. "No", the man snapped, "I am the only one who can do it as it must be done, and it has to be done quickly." The doctor's prescription was, the patient was to take off two hours every working day and go for a long walk. He was to take off half a-day a week and spend that half-day in a cemetery?" "Because", answered the doctor, "I want you to wander around and look at the grave stones. I want you to ruminate upon the fact that many of them are there because they thought even as you do, that the whole world rested on their shoulders. Meditate upon the solemn fact that when you get there permanently, the world will go on just the same and others will be able to do the same work you are doing." Hearing this the patient slowed his pace. He learned to delegate authority. He stopped fretting and fuming. And because of this his productivity at work improved."
Let us ponder over the moral of the story and meditate to free ourselves from the clutches of mind and the ego.

Hi Vishal,
That's a good story with several good points.
I find that I can't let go of trying to run the whole show myself down to the last detail. The weight of the world does in fact rest upon my shoulders but it seems terribly wrong to operate in any other way.
I see how the patient let go and benefited from doing so.
I find it difficult to surrender. I always seem driven to analyze and carry out every last detail myself. In some ways I dislike my attitude but I have yet to find a better approach to life. It seems like backing off is synonymous to being sloppy or careless - along with consequences.
I'm a bit stuck.
*blush*

It requires greater strength and courage to surrender than anything else. Whatever has to happen will happen, no matter how hard you try to avoid the inevitable. The harder you try, the more misery it'll create for you and others around you. Have you ever observed what happens when you try to get rid of an ache or pain in your body? The more you try to evade it, the more trouble it creates for you. The moment you accept it, it vanishes.
There is far more spiritual realm to this than a logical approach. When you are relaxed and detached, you work from your heart and you emit positive vibrations. These vibrations are more powerful than the vibrations coming from your mind center, even if you happen to think positively, and effect everybody around you. Have you noticed how you feel when you are with a child? Can you get stressed? On other hand, have you been around someone who is chronically stressed? Can you help yourself not getting stressed?
The growing problem in the present world is due to our attitude. We are stressed and we create stressful situations and environment around us, which is the breeding ground from crime and atrocities.
So by staying relaxed and detached, you are actually doing far more favor to yourself and everyone around you by purifying the environment.

Newbie Shield .... I attended a time management workshop recently and we studied character, much like you described. He did everything himself and as a result he was very stressed and started forgetting deadlines and commitments, his doctor also pronounced him a health hazard. I think you should train some people and allow them to develop.

Hi Vishal,
Good points, I'm starting to see what you mean.

Hi Mika,
Thank you for the tip. I may take your advice and do that by the end of next year or so. I'll need it by then.
