Gratitude reduces stress.

If we get in the habit of naming the things we are grateful for, how can we possibly feel cheated or wronged in any way?

It might help to do this every day, especially at first.

Any ideas on the specifics of how to carry this out?

Very true! While there may not be any specifics to carry this out, if we constantly remind ourselves of things that we are grateful for rather than what's not going right for us, we would naturally feel better. And when we feel better, we see things in from a different scenario. And there is less chance of us getting stressed over trivial things.

I can think of a wonderful idea for this. This is called as Zen Tea Meditation. Whenever you drink tea, think of all the people who have put some effort in getting the tea to you and say a silent " Thankyou " to them. eg. the farmer who grew tea, the transport, the person who made tea, the person who made the cup etc etc.

This whole exercise can be applied to everything you consume. Slowly it can be life changing experience.

Very true! Children should especially be made to practice this from an early age.

I sometimes find it's a really nice idea to list all the things that I'm grateful for today just before going to sleep. This means I go to sleep feeling positive and I sleep better.

It's also a good idea to do it first thing in the morning. Just make a list of at least 10 things in your life right now that you are grateful for - it's a great way to start the day.
