Meditation is the way to know ones own self better. Closing eyes and being free from all the things in the thoughts and concentrating on just one thing would be the best way and is followed by many. There are plenty of ways to meditate and yoga help us in the process. Yoga help us free our minds, the most important thing that you require to meditate is reduce the stress level otherwise you would not be able to concentrate, However, meditation is improved only by practice and improvement in the level of meditation would automatically result in the reduction of stress.

I find that Meditation is a personal experience. You can meditate while walking or sitting. The important factor is focused breathing, some people try to clear their minds of thoughts while others, like myself let the thoughts drift in and then I allow them to exit. Do not try too hard to meditate, this is pleasurable time. Sit quietly and be natural!

Breathe slowly and deeply. Observe your breathing without any kind of tension. Just breathe and observe it. Do it for a few minutes. And see your stress dissolving.
Without thinking about why and how, just do it and watch its effect on your mind after you have done it.
It works. Every time.

HealthyGirl: Any special techniques for people with ADHD who have trouble focusing? I think meditating on the senses would work well. For example, you could try focusing on the sounds around you for a moment, then the sense of touch, then the smell, sight and so on... If you can't focus on one sense for long, move on to the other sense.
