Any effort to relieve stress will only increase your stress levels. Physical activities like exercise, sports, are good ways to distract your mind but they do not completely de-stress you as such. Real relaxation comes only through absolute no-doing - no desires, no thoughts, no activity. Just being in the moment. Try it! Just for this moment, imagine you have reached your goals. You have no worries. No desire to reach anywhere. And absolutely contented ...and stay in that moment. See how it feels! That is real relaxation.

Here's an excellent method to relax your mind and body in minutes:

Take a deep breath. Hold it for a moment and then let go slowly. Imagine your body is getting totally relaxed as you exhale and feel the tension dissolving as you exhale. Be aware of your entire body getting totally relaxed as you exhale. Imagine your body is like a balloon. And as you exhale, all your strength and resistance is getting dissolved. After exhaling completely, see if you can hold it for a moment before inhaling again. Don't put any effort. Just see if it can come naturally. Then slowly inhale and repeat the above process.

I was a little skeptical about this technique but after trying it myself, I could not believe it myself.

I always facing stress during early of the month since all the Love Letters (I mean BILL letters), start coming in. I tried to think that I've paid all of them (in my mind of course) and still imagining that I have a lot of cash in hands. I then use that money to take my family for holiday vacations. Seeing the smile on their faces really is soothing.

Of course, all the above I only imagine it. It does help for a while and makes me forget about the bill letters that give me stress in the first place.

Thinking of solving problem one step at a time will also help me reducing my stress level rather than thinking of them all at the same time.

hello,
i don't know how much it can help you to reduce stress trying to fight it. some years before i had the idea that just ignoring the stress might be an idea to fight the stress. but it ddidn't work too well.

initially it gave some good results, but it was not so easy to deceive "the mind" by ignoring the stress.

cheers.
