I want to share that a dear friend of mine with recurring chronic fatigue uses gentle 'shaking' of the body as an exercise. He experiences more energy at the end of a session of let's say 15 minutes!

In addition to all the great explanations above, the way exercise can help relieve stress is by relaxing and letting go of the muscles that have been held in tension due to stress. We hold our muscles tight without knowing, and when we exercise they relax and let go.

As you exercise, you tend to forget your problems as you are focusing on exercising,so this is also another form of strategy to relieve stress. And you learn to be strong indirectly. As i've tried this myself before, it works

From my personal experience, exercising shifts my mind to the routine I am doing. So instead of thinking about my deadlines, I am focused on reaching my goal (number of sit-ups, etc.) It is also my outlet of anger, frustrations, etc. which is stated on About.com. But chemically, it burns away the chemicals like cortisol and norepinephrine that cause stress as per Naturalnews.com.

Zara Mari: From my personal experience Yes it does.As we exercise our body produces Adrenaline and Endorphins. Adrenelin makes us feel more alert and awake and focused, which makes us feel more alive and excited and happy. Endorphins are anti- depressants that the body naturally makes. It makes us feel happy, stress free and generally more energetic. This why many people do walking, cycling and swimming.

In a more simple approach, if we are all about sex and aggression, intense exercise can sure get a lot of aggression out. I always like the energy that exercising gives me. It helps me focus for the rest of the day, and I am at my physical peak. This leaves my mind free of worrying about those things and can focus on the mental tasks at hand.

Five minutes of exercise that makes you sweat will metabolise any stress hormones in your body. So after a stressful incident or event, run up and down the stairs until you sweat. Then try and do a few minutes of deep breathing. You will feel calm and focused afterwards.
