Hi all,

I am performing a study of stress and anxiety, and would like to ask a question if I may.

If there was something you could do or buy tomorrow that would eliminate stress or anxiety completely, what would it be or what would it contain?

I am not interested in quoting anyone or getting specific information from anyone, I would just like to get a feel of what the "Ideal Solution would encompass".

If I have offended anyone or broken a written or unwritten rule I apologise in advance and promise that I will never bother any of you again.

Thanks

Jay

I believe you cannot buy anything that would eliminate stress or anxiety completely. Only knowledge/wisdom can eliminate stress. When you realize deep within you that nothing is permanent and everything is changing, nothing can bother you anymore.

This too shall pass

I couldn't agree more. Do you think that most people are tuned into this?

Thanks

I have to agree with Vishal - there is no "magic pill" that is going to eliminate the stress and anxiety in your life. There are, however, exercises that you can do, such as deep breathing, or even certain physical exertions that may help you.

I don't think so! The way our mind works, accepting the fact that "This too shall pass away" would seem like a next to impossible task for it. The mind always looks to control things. It can not let go.

We can however train it with regular reminding, listening to spiritual discourses and yoga/pranayama.

Agree! But training the mind is very vital aspect that cannot be ignored. All the exercises you mentioned will surely help but if you allow your mind to do what it has been doing, it'll only get stronger and you'll be back to square one. Knowledge is the greatest asset here.

Thanks Vishal, thanks Rosalyn, you have verified some possibilities that had been floating around in my head, and have elightened me with a bigger picture still.

Thank you both again for your valuable contribution, and best wishes for the future.

I also don't believe you can buy something to relief stress. Unless miracle do happen, if not you must have the right strategies and ways to handle stress. Everytime when you are stressed out, don't continue with your works as this may get your head burnt out.

Take a deep breath right from the pit of your stomach. Inhale through your nose. Feel the energy coming in and revitalizing your body. Breathe out through your mouth, while making soft, gentle sounds that resemble whooshing of the wind every time you breathe out.

Hope that helps

I find deep breathing as described above coupled with visualization is a powerful combination.

Stress and anxiety come from the mind and this is a way to use your mind to calm itself down.

With practice, this can calm things down a lot.
