I'm aware of mind patterns. I like to think that making an effort to be aware of them and to stay in the present moment is an adequate defense against stress.
However, sometimes the patterns manifest and it takes a while to become aware of them. Even then it's sometimes difficult to even temporarily hold them at bay or let them go.
To make matters worse, there are times when others really destroy a good mood or a good day. So, sometimes, the mind patterns come into play after you've talked to someone.
In each case, I sometimes feel helpless when the dark and ugly force moves in or is suddenly in control. I become negative or stressed.
Any advice?

Practice. I guess that's the only way to heighten your awareness.
Don't try to resist what is happening around you. Check every now and then if there's any resistance/tightness in your body. If there is, then you need to let go. You are resisting something.
What is stress? It is some sort of resistance within - to the situations/circumstances around us.
However, it's not an easy thing to practice. It's terribly difficult. But without practicing non-resistance, you simply cannot progress in your spiritual path. In fact non-resistance is the end goal of all spiritual practices.
My son is my biggest teacher. He does everything which I don't like Now that he has become conscious of his looks, he dresses himself in every possible way I don't like. I was wild at him today for buttoning his collar button. But he was adamant. After dropping him to school, I realized how wrong was I for shouting at him. He has his own style and I have no right to dictate my terms to him, no matter how old he is. But it was too late. The mind had done it's job and was smiling back at the consciousness.

Hi there !!! Do you know what exactly is hypnosis?
People have been asking this question for decades and most people have a very different concept of what hypnosis is. Many people have only witnessed hypnosis as demonstrated in films or on stage shows, and therefore have the idea that hypnosis involves gaining control over someone else and making them do things.

Hi, I think being hypnotized is usually characterized by concentration, relaxation, suggestion, and expectation.

Hi NS! Feeling up or down do not depend only on external factors. there can be a stimulus. changes in thought patterns are all within us. In my view, everything starts from BRAIN and ends in BRAIN. Did you ever see enyone buying happiness from super-market or from any other place. it originates well within us only and when happiness can not be purchased, how come sadness? No one else than us can destroy our mood without our letting it happen, isn't? Whatever resouces we have at that moment of time with us, we should try to perform the best, that's it. Hi Newbie Shield , Have you seen "The Secret" movie? It talks about Law of attraction. It means that you are attracting things that are in your thoughts good or bad. For example, if you are thinking that someone will look down on you, it will happen or you are thinking that you are sexy, others will also view you as sexy.
