qb123,
Definitely sounds like stress. It has been over a month now since your post, and I'm curious to hear how things are going with you now.
It sounds like you will do 'whatever it takes' for your job - that's an amazing dedication, and I'm sure more employers wish they had employees with that kind of dedication. However, sacraficing you time and health, and paying for help out of your own pocket are above the call of duty. I would recommend thinking about where your boundaries are with your work (I have much personal experience in boundary-less-ness with work myself!) An think about what is reasonable to you and what is not. And begin to draw some lines for yourself. Maybe even talk to others to find out their sense of boundaries with work - just as an outside point of reference.
Real, tangible skills like yours will always be needed. So if you are afraid of this ultimatum, know that there will always be another place that you can work if you should choose to do so.
When in a situation like this, it can also be helpful to use the 80/20 rule. Determine what is the 80% that is going to make the biggest difference at your work and focus on doing that - then let the other 20% go. No job is ever finished, and it's good to know when to call it a day.
Take some time for yourself each day to relax and mentally let go of your responsibilities. And plan something fun with your family or friends, and remember that there's more to life than work.
Best wishes, Michelle
