I have been struggling with anxiety attacks in the past. Not so much now but I still have alot of anxiety in my life. I dont wanna look into pills to make me feel better but a support system to maybe suggest some stess reducers. Dont take me wrong Im very thankful for all that I have in my life. Its just getting to be overwhelming and Im not sure what to do. Can some one please help me?

Hi Charma,
I can strongly recommend "Mindfulness" exercises, it is a very effective way of dealing with overwhelming unpleasant emotions, be it stress, depression or similar. If you want to learn more about it, try to look up books by Jon Kabat-Zinn (he is one of the founders)

I strongly agree with Solace. Anxiety in simple terms is focusing on the future/results to such an extent that it becomes a habit. Only by paying attention, repeatedly and non-judgmentally, to the present activity/moment, you can hope to break this vicious cycle.

I will look that up Solace and thank you for the reply. Vishal when you put those things in perspective like that it makes sense. It's actually doing them that I will have to work on. I know it will take time. As they say Rome wasn't built in a day. I just hope in time Ill be able to be happy once again.

You're welcome - It is of course always best to get a live person to guide you into those things but as an alternative or start, this book (by Kabat-Zinns): http://www.amazon.com/Mindful-Way-through-Depression-Unhappiness/dp/1593851286 - Is highly useful and a great introduction to mindfulness

Charma80: I just hope in time Ill be able to be happy once again. Sure you will! But don't think about being happy. Think about being present. Happiness is a by-product of living in the present moment. If you try to be happy, you'll never be happy. Just slow down, relax and be present, and let everything take it's own course.

I have taken your advice Solace and your advice as well Vishal. I'm trying to do a little meditating here and there. Also, I'm trying to re train myself on how I think. It's hard but I'm sure I can do it. I try and control things too much around me. I'm trying to slow down and breathe.

Hi Charma,
Don't rush yourself and stress yourself out. Yes, try to control things around you and slow down your pace. Just follow the flow. Don't worry over so many things which are unnecessary. Try to get someone to speak to, and always expose yourself to nature as that can calm down your mind.
Good luck charma! You can overcome it!

I agree with living in the moment and many stress management techniques really help.
Another way to reduce stress is through gratitude. Being grateful for what you have helps put things in perspective and lowers stress.
I try and practice an attitude of gratitude first thing in the morning to get my day off to a good start.
