Is it worth it to talk to a Psychologist, I have heard a lot of people say that most people should talk to one. Whats your thoughts?

Hi DLF,

I think it's good for a short term thing - once a week for a few months. It someone has been heavily traumatized then perhaps for longer.

Most clients get stuck on specific issues for too long and make the mistake of letting the psychologist deciding what to talk about most sessions.

I think that the best thing for most folks is to try to identify their short-comings and then work at improving them rather that looking to blame problems on other people or external events.

Have you had any experience with psychologists?
