Is it true that stress can be one of the factors that lead to sleep walking? If so, how can it be stopped and prevented?

I have not heard that but it would make a bit of sense. Stress can affect the quality of our sleep and that is one of the things that lead to sleep walking. Even my daughter can have issues (talking in her sleep and so on) if she is stressed out.

While stress may not be exact source, there are many evidences to link stress to sleepwalking:

Sleepwalking may also be triggered by fever, which directly affects the nervous system, general illness, alcohol use, sleep deprivation, and emotional stress. Hormonal changes that occur during adolescence, menstruation, and pregnancy can be also be triggers for sleepwalking. Sleepwalking episodes are more likely during times of physiological or psychological stress. [1] If you have a history of emotional problems, you also may need to have a psychological evaluation to look for causes such as excessive anxiety or stress. Or, you may need to have a medical exam to rule out other causes. [2] Avoid or minimize stress, anxiety, and conflict, which can worsen the condition. [3]

hello,
i have heard about many people saying that they have this habit of walking while they sleep.
it amazed me much since, if you are walking, then you are not sleeping.
may be you are not concious, but you are not sleeping at least.

i don't know, how do they define sleep scientifically, but i guess, you need to put a difference between these two types.

cheers,
taj
