You know there are times when you don't think that things are getting to you until realise how down you are getting about it all.

And that's where I have found myself tonight. Many of my stress management techniques historically have involved the consumption of foods that I really should not be eating, and since I am dieting I can't do that now.

So where does that leave me? How do you cope when you start to get down?

Take a break. If you can't do that, try spending some time everyday among natural surroundings like forests, mountains. Or even try gazing at the sky for some time. They work like magic. If you do not have access to any of the above, learn to meditate.

Hello Vishal,

Good piece of advice. But very difficult to work on.

I tried almost all of the points you mentioned. But most of the cases, you know, when things go wrong, you just can't manage things the way you want.

Even not a single solution works out.

Oh, I hate those situations, seriously.

I have found that when I am stressed it is followed closely by depression as well. I take time out for myself by using my vacation or sick leave.

I don't have any exact explanation but it really helps under stress if you choose to relax with the nature.

It could be rooted into the old history of mankind, when they were nomad, just roaming around places.

We really have a link deep in our heart with the forest.

It's the energy field that works on you. If you carefully observe, you'll notice that if you are among stressful people, you get stressed. If you are among jovial and happy people, you naturally tend to become happy. The energy field of trees rings about serenity in you. And so does those of saints and positive people.

Well, the energy field concept needs some clarification. Personally I am a rationalist and don't believe the existence of "energy field".

Isn’t it just a concept which survived till today as believing in it doesn't cause any harm. Rather, the faith in this idea was found to be helpful, though the phenomenon is not scientifically proved.
