I think the outcome of this thread would be a real eye-opener. I'm seeing if there's a common outcome. By happy, I mean real happiness, one that stays long and is not fleeting.

For example, the joy of eating an ice-cream cannot be termed as real happiness, it is pleasure. However, the bliss you feel when you just finished exercising and are relaxing can be termed as real happiness. That feeling will be there for quite some time even if you have stopped exercising.

And no sex please.

Here's what makes me most happy - Just lying down and relaxing. With nothing to worry about, nothing to achieve, just for that moment. Just being there.

One thing that makes me feel happy is knowing that I'll have several uninterrupted hours to read a good book!

It may not seem like much, but to me it's priceless.

To me happiness has always been doing what I enjoy doing - it may be reading my favorite books, watching a good (for me) movie, talking with dear friend, being with family members or others whom I love. That is "real" happiness for me.

There is no purpose or reason for these activities, these are pure happy moments!

I've acheived happiness and had 2 females in my life ruin it/or try to ruin it. Actually they ruined it- trying to deal with it

If you allow other people or events to influence your happiness you are not in control. Happiness is something we choose in any given moment.

Being grateful for everything you have right now in this moment is a very good way to achieve lasting happiness.

I know it's an old cliche - but lasting happiness comes from within, not from external things. Of course there are lovely moments - I love reading and sitting listening to birds singing or whatever, but if you want to be happy no matter what is happening, you can just choose it.

I like to read some self-help e-books. I simply love reading with music on. It's entertaining as well as informational. You get to know more about things when you are reading.

Hello,

I like to read books and listing music when i am in stress or in work pressure. This help me a lot to over come from the stress and also makes me happy.

Regards,
Olivia

i find that communicating with others - even people i don't know - helps cheer me up if i'm feeling a bit down, and feel happier for longer.

it could be a shared with a passing stranger, a "hello, how are you?" to somebody working at a shop or a positive text or telephone conversation with a friend...

doing this, and doing it regularly helps me feel connected, happy and worthwhile, more of the time.
